Scenario 1.

Tyler is 9 months old and this is his third week in care. He is an only child and his mother Amanda has told you that he gets lots of cuddles at home. Tyler attends one day a week , he arrives at around 8: 15 and is on his way home by 2 .00 pm. Last week Tyler cried for much of his visit but was cuddled a lot and played nestled between the care’s legs sitting on the floor. As Tyler arrives today, he looks apprehensive but seems to recognise the carer. Amanda starts to leave and Tyler looks he may cry but is also looking at the toy shelf he enjoyed exploring last week.

Task 3

Responding to babies’s cues to develop a nurturing relationship

For this Assessment Task, you are required to discus two children in your service. Before you begin, you should discuss which children you could observe for this assignment with the caregiver you are responsible to. If you are student on placement choose children who have already established a secure attachment to other caregivers. Children who are securely attached to a permanent caregiver will not be unduly upset when you leave the service at the end of your placement.

Answer the following questions for each child:

You are to construct resources file of appropriate ideas for experiences to support the holistic development of children in early childhood aged from birth to 6 years. Your file must include the following requirements:

Three activities for each domain of development:

· Physical development including nutrition

· Emotional / physiological development

· Language / speech development

· Social development

· Creative development

· Cognitive development

2. Each domain should have an activity for each age group as follows:

· 0-2 years

· 2-4 years

· 4-6 years

3. In each age group you will need one idea, therefore each domain will have at 3 entries. When complete, your resource file will have

Ideas should be gathered from a minimum of five different sources ( i.e.: This includes 5 different books, websites, or a mix). These sources must be referenced clearly at the bottom of each entry.
References should include the website where the information was obtained or the name of the book, author and publishing details. Please note: People and centres can not used as references.
