The selection of a statistical test is based on many parameters such what questions we have to
answered, types of data used (continuous, categorical or binary) and the study design. Firstly, we decide what parameters we have to test and which statistical test will used in order to test that particular parameter before collecting the data. Then we define null and alternative hypothesis. In other word one hypothesis is in favor of claim and one against the claim. Also, before conducting the study we have to specify the level of significance in order to define critical region.
Finally, we set up that whether the test should be one-tailed or two-tailed. One tailed is used when we have to test the parameter that follows particular direction like less than or greater than. On the other hand two tailed test is used to check whether something is equal or not.
We select the particular statistical test based on following two criteria
1) Number of variables
2) Types of data like continuous or...
