Social media and social networking sites have been a worldwide phenomenon. These platforms have allowed individuals to create a profile and connect with others users virtually anywhere. Health care specific social networking sites are jumping unto this craze too. People dealing with certain illnesses can get support from others, feedback on medication or procedures that were done. Another aspect of using social media and these networking sites is to promote health care knowledge, share resources and assist in health related decisions (Laranjo, 2015). In Laranjo’s article, it described how new research has demonstrated that social networking platforms have made a slight impact on improving health behaviors. The biggest advantage to using social media with healthcare is how it is already apart of everyone lives. Health interventions can be integrated seamlessly without it feeling like a chore or burden interfering with people’s already busy lives. People are drawn to messages involving individuals that they feel that they can connect with or is similar to them (Laranjo, 2015). If a health campaign involving a female, that seemed similar to myself in age, with a lifestyle that looked similar as well (enrolled in school, working full-time etc) and she was talking about healthy behaviors she adapted whether it be diet, exercise, quitting smoking, I would be more inclined to follow what she was saying because I can see how doable it was as well as how successful it was. Using social media in healthcare provides many opportunities to reach people.

Social networking sites are popular yet, do not commonly curb unwanted behaviors therefore change intervention and methodological features are required (Yang, 2017). Conversation and face to face interaction is still the best form of networking adding discussion value or quality. One on one and group interaction between people has always been the most effective because we see, hear, or can feel the people we are talking to. To add, emails are extremely popular however, I have noticed that people tend to take messages the wrong way and at times this can cause conflict. I have found that this can also happen within our discussion board forum as some responses may be taken out of context and comments may be misunderstood despite a robust setting.
We must consider learning styles and it is safe to say, different people have different ways of understanding material such as visual learning, listening by audio or kinesthetic hands on. In my personal opinion, a campaign objective must be an attempt to mimic its intended audience to gain attention and to achieve better advertising results.
