True Education Pty Ltd t/a Technical Education Development Institute (TEDI) AT2 – Skills Demonstration Student Name: Group: Unit Code and Name: UEENEEH168A – Modify-redesign of Electronics and Communications Systems Assessment Method and description This assessment consists of two skills demonstrations where you will be required to prepare to Modify - redesign of electronics and communications systems in the institute’s Electronic Laboratory. Context of assessment This assessment will be conducted in the institute’s Electronic Laboratory at date and time agreed between you and assessor with access to two electronic and communication systems and equipment and resources outlined below. Resources Required Following resources for the assessment are required: · Two electronics and communication system · Walkie talkie system · Telephone system · Electronic lab with equipment required for modification and redesign of the electronic and communication systems. e.g. scre wdriver, ammeter, diode, regulators etc · Electronic LAB OHS instructions · Tools, equipment, and materials appropriate for recording and maintaining documentation. e.g., You are required to bring following resources for the assessment: · Safety boots · Student assessment tool · Learners resources book for this unit. Submission Timeframes This assessment will take at 8 hours for each for two occasions (The physical task should be completed within 3 hour and 1 hour is allocated for documentation). However, this is only a guide. The assessment must be completed in time frame specified by your trainer/assessor. Assessment criteria To be deemed satisfactory in this assessment, you must satisfactorily complete all the tasks outlined in assessment instructions below. Task Instructions to the Student In this Assessment task, you will be presented two electronics and communication systems for testing to modify and redesign the systems. Thereafter, you will conduct testing, modification, redesign, and post testing, this will be done on two (2) occasions of 4 hours each as per your timetable and you will be required to complete following: · Follow the Occupational Health and Safety workplace procedures and practices in the electronic lab including managing and controlling risk. · You must follow sustainability procedures including energy conservation and principles and practices which are environmentally friendly. · Demonstrate an understanding of the essential knowledge and associated skills as described in this unit. · Demonstrate an appropriate level of skills enabling employment · While working you should respect fellow team members and observe the Anti-Discrimination legislation, work assessor’s instructions and Electronic lab manual handling procedures. You are required to perform the following steps for each skills demonstration, and you will be observed by the Assessor while performing the tasks. You must use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on before starting work: Task 1: Prepare to modify-redesign of electronics and communications system(s) 1. You are required to identify, understand, and establish occupational health and safety, also known as Work Health Safety (WHS), requirements of the tasks before commencing work. You should also note and establish safety hazards that have not previously been identified and OHS risk control measures and procedures while preparing for the work. 1. You must identify system operating parameters by reviewing system specifications and component technical data. To ensure the work is co-ordinated effectively with others involved on the work site, appropriate personnel are consulted. If you are working in group, you must work as team treating everyone with respect and equally. 1. You are required to establish the limitations, use and operation of the system to be modified from original specifications, manufacturers’ data and the like. You need to determine the extent of modification from measurements, tests, inspections, system limitations and other relevant requirements. 1. Your accessor will provide you all required components. You are required to obtain tools, equipment, applications, and devices needed for the work in accordance with established procedures and checked for correct operation and safety. You also need to check the preparatory work to ensure there is no unnecessary damage occurred and complies with requirements. 1. You are required to demonstrate documentation of specifications and instructions for the modifications in accordance with requirements and organisational procedures. Task 2: Generate modification-redesign of electronics and communications system(s) 1. You should accurately follow all safe work methods for controlling risks. 2. You are required to establish that proposed modification complies with all requirements and includes specifications and documentation for alteration of the system(s); where safety, functionality, and economic considerations are incorporated in the proposed modification design. 3. You need to include the changes in use and operation of the system(s) as a consequence of the proposed modification design in the documentation; and will also need to consider and discuss alternative modification arrangements with appropriate personnel. 4. You are required to demonstrate that decisions for dealing with unexpected situations are made from discussions with appropriate persons and job specifications and requirements. This will also include the selection of methods for dealing with unexpected situations on the basis of safety and specified work outcomes. 5. You are required to ensure that modification-redesign is carried out efficiently without unnecessary waste of materials or damage to apparatus, the surrounding environment or services and using sustainable energy principles. Task 3: Completion and report modification-redesign activities 1. You need to follow all OHS risk control work completion measures and procedures. 2. You need to check the proposed modification under established procedures for compliance with all relevant requirements. The work site needs to be cleaned and made safe in accordance with established procedures. 3. You are required to ensure that the proposed modification is submitted for appropriate organisational approval and, where applicable, for statutory or regulatory approval. 4. You need to demonstrate that after approval, copies of the modification-redesign documents are issued. Also, the copies are retained, documented, and stored in records in accordance with established procedures and requirements. AT2 – Practical task details You will be provided two electronics and communication systems including: •Walkie talkie system •Telephone system You are required to modify and redesign the systems and complete each step including: •Prepare work area to modify-redesign of electronics and communications systems • Prepare a modification-redesign of electronics and communications system •Complete the redesign and modification tasks and report to assessor. This will be done on two (2) occasions (once for each system) to meet the requirement defined in the unit. Please refer task instructions at the start for more detailed instructions. Walkie Talkie System
A walkie talkie system is generally known as the handheld receiver which is small and portable handheld transceiver. It is a 2-way radio which allows the user to have voice communication across
a specified distance does not need any physical wire connections between the devices to have communications. The initial research was done over walkie talkie during the Second World War duration. It was initially supplied for the infantry use and soon it was known as indispensable among the tank units and field artillery.
The walkie talkie were known as wireless communication and they had outstanding ability which made these units to become more popular among the people and it became a commercial product for different manufacturers. To redesign the system, we would need some other components also for the new walkie talkie design. The 4-pole double throw switch can be used for transmitting the unit either from the receiver or transmitter during the communication between identical receiver or transmitter set. It will be used to serve the purpose of transforming unit. 3 transistors will we used, and they will be directly coupled to get audio amplifier state set which can operate at a high gain. The first transistor used in the new walkie talkie will be used as the preamplifier and it will pull the minute voice signal to get some higher level and then it will be fade to the next high gain stage. At this stage it will further amplify the audio frequency and then send it across primary part of driver transformer. The driver transformer is used to increase the level of the signal so that they are clearly audible to the receiver over loudspeakers which are connected with the system.
The speaker can be borrowed from the old small transistor radio or from any landline phone. The speaker needs to be connected in an interesting manner. On the basis of the position in which we are using the switch off walkie talkie the speaker will work as the sound re producer when it will be present in the receiver mode and it will be used as dynamic microphone when the switch is present in the transmitter mode. When the speaker is...
