In the cinema Rear Window (1954), directed by Alfred Hitchcock, the Garden Digging Scene, where the protagonist, Jeff’s girlfriend and nurse Lisa and Stella, in a daring act went to find out what was buried in the antagonist Lar’s garden was, in my personal opinion the most confusing scenes where the suspense reached new heights. In all the other scenes of the cinema, starting from Jeff’s assumption of Lar being the killer, the movement and behavior of the characters in focus-generated suspense, but also kept the aspect of slight predictability, contributing in the development of the plot.
However, despite noticing the dog sniffing and digging at a particular spot of Lar’s gander, the killing of the dog and the subsequent shortening of the flower trees in their length hinted that something was buried under the flower trees. Even the reaction of Lar also made the assumption stronger,...
