Governmental regulation and the greater good
The government could have prevented or at least mitiga
ted the credit crisis of 2008. It could have done this through early recognition of the business trend and where things were heading. Studies show that early indicators of trouble were apparent from as early as 2006 and 2007. The government ignored these signs and hoped the market would recover on its own. It did not. The government could have placed a limit on sub-prime mortgages or at least placed some regulation or requirement for the issue of sub-prime mortgages to control their issuance....
