Alice, a third year student, noticed that she and her friends learned more statistics when they were in Madame MacAdamia'a class than in Professor P. Nutt's. They could not determine whether this was due to the style of the teaching or the content of the lecturers, which differed somewhat. For her third-year project, therefore, she persuaded three statistics lecturers to give the same statistics lecture, but to use their usual lecturing style. First-year students were allocated randomly to the three different lecturers, for onw hour. At the end of the lecture, they were tested in their enjoyment of the lecture (ENJOYMENT), and also on what they had learned in the lecture (KNOWLEDGE).Alice then conducted a one-way ANOVA on the results.
