Static friction: Static friction is a hindrance to the motion of an object as it traverses a given path. This is the result of two fabrics sliding across one another. The formula for calculating static friction is F = μs × N.
Kinetic friction: Kinetic friction can be described as a force acting between surfaces in motion. A force acting against the movement of a body on a surface is in the opposite direction of that force.
