Article Synthesis directions (Article attached):
1.
1.
Provide a summary of the reading.
What is the purpose of the article? Additionally, if there are key
constructs/terminology (e.g., pivotal position, person-organization fit, star
employee, etc.) in the article, make sure you describe or explain what they
are, as if they were vocabulary words.
2.
2.
Results and/or conclusions. What
did the authors find or propose?
3.
3.
What are the practical implications
of the article? How could managers (any manager) use the information in the
article to benefit their organization?
4.
4.
What is your opinion of the
article? What is the most interesting or surprising point from this reading?
What is one point to take away from it?
5.
5.
What is a question you have from
the reading? Please do not interpret this as “throw-away” sentences to satisfy
criteria. You will be evaluated on your ability to demonstrate logical inquiry.
For instance, “I wonder if this would apply to a sports organization?” would be
considered a “throw away” sentence and does not demonstrate much thought. On
the other hand, “I wonder if, during free agency, the intangible assets of
baseball players become more or less important to teams based on their current
competitive position?” would be considered a thoughtful question.
Note:
Don’t
use that question because I already wrote a paper about it (Terry et al., 2022;
full citation in Phase 3 optional readings).
Syntheses need to
be at least 500 words (about one single-spaced
page). Syntheses
will be submitted via Blackboard.
