Assessment 1 In this assessment you are to use the decision-making models suggested in the Assessment 1 brief. You must show written and/or visual evidence of the use of those models in addressing the following decision-making issue. • Analyse why you have undertaken postgraduate study. The important emphasis here is on what you hope to gain from this extra level of education, balanced by the various covert and overt expenses you will incur. (I have undertake this study because in past I have started my own business but couldn’t run and I have to stop it . Then I started MBA hoping this study will help me understand all the theoretical knowledge so I can start my own business on my own and run successfully) I consider myself as a Rational Decision Making Model. Assessment One 1. Identify your decision preferences and 2. Determine ways of bringing flexibility to your decision style. 3. Construct a personal diary listing of how you made the decision on the topic given to you by your facilitator; reflect on those decisions 4. Complete the survey instrument that is on Blackboard; reviewand analyse the results received in the logic, intuitive and balance results ( As I performed the decision tool matrix, I was more intuitive followed by balanced and logistic.) 5. Work with a mentor-buddy in giving-gaining feedback on ways to address type differences, bringing balance to own-others’ decision preferences. 6. Map out a development plan lto offset the biases and blind spots that you identify in your decision making personality. Submission format Introduction: 100 words maximum. The introduction will present the reader with a clear and concise understanding of the following: 1. What is the submission about; 2. What theories will be used; 3 Your concise conclusion; and 4 The structure of the submission 2. Analysis and evaluation: 1300 words maximum. In this section you will analyse and evaluate your decision-making process using selected theories and concepts from the various Modules offered in Blackboard for this subject. You must include any blind spots or biases that you have identified in making this evaluative decision based on your research and formal feedback from others. 3. Conclusion: 100 words maximum. In this section you will provide a concise summation of your analysis and conclusion(s). 4. References: A minimum of 4 relevant academic references are required from seminal sources and books. These references MUST include references discussed and utilized in class plus any other appropriate and relevant references you have encountered in your research. Referencing must be APA style. INTRODUCTION
What are we today? Answer is “We are the product of the decisions that we had taken for ourselves in our yesteryears”. Why did we take those decision would be the reasoning and analysis that we would be doing t
oday as a part of our assessment on “Why did we do a post-graduation?” Before we do that, we would understand the basic meaning of decision making. Decision making can be defined as a set of step or action taken to execute the envisioned thought and to fulfil the underlying task. Decision is the set of instructions that would have a time bound impact and can be called as short term or long-term basis the outcome of those decision.
ANALYSIS AND EVALUATION
The reason why chose to do a post-graduation because it would help me to develop the right set of approach for the entrepreneurship that is nurturing inside me. My style of decision making is a mix of balanced, intuitive and logistics in a ratio of almost 45%, 43% and 12% respectively. What is a balanced style of decision making?
RATIONAL STYLE Or BALANCED STYLE OF DECISION MAKING
As the name suggests, the key to Rational style or Balanced decision-making is careful analysis to determine the best answer to a problem or issue. Balanced decision-makers are task-oriented, focusing on analyzing data to determine the best answer for a given task. This style provides the flexibility as the decision maker is aware of each alternative outcome that would be caused by the decision. For example- what would be the financial implications to accommodate the cost of the study? What could be the alternative approach? Likewise, a balanced decision is an informed decision that would not create a feeling of regret post taking the decision.
In balanced decision making, the decision-maker makes a thoughtful and extensive examination of the available data and information before deciding. Balanced decision is based on observations, data, and facts and seek additional information when needed. The decision-maker is accommodative but retains control of the process.
Balanced decision-making is beneficial when the direction needs to be sought as there could be more than one correct alternative to each answer and the way it would impact the relationships around the process will be judged basis the alternative chosen.
