Assignment topic
The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate your ability to develop a comprehensive implementation proposal for an information system that uses a systems approach. The proposal should be targeted at a potential ‘sponsor’ organisation that will need to be convinced of the appropriateness and effectiveness of the proposed new system.
Choose an information system (e.g., ERP systems, CRM systems, SCM Systems, Management Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Executive Information Systems, Enterprise Portals, Data Warehouse & Data Mining Applications, Enterprise Collaboration Systems, Knowledge Management Systems), and so on, that you have studied in this unit. Alternatively, you may wish to combine features of several systems. Please note for the purpose of this assignment, mobile apps or other e-business and digital enterprise applications should not be used as the chosen information system.
Your assignment should describe the steps of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) discussed in Topic 4 of the subject. The proposed system must address an identifiable problem/opportunity that exists in the sponsor organisation and relate to particular aspects of the organisation’s overall strategic directions. It is important that you select the features of your system carefully and justify your selection. Do not just use (be critical of the use of) the standard features of a commercially available software package. For the purposes of this assignment, try to keep the system that you are proposing to a manageable size.
Your proposed system could help the ‘sponsor’ by:
improving an existing manual information systemintroducing a new information systemcreating a new business opportunityimproving organisational productivity. The sponsor could be:
top management of your companyan investora financial institution which will lend you moneya client who has engaged you as a consultant. But a sponsor is not the same as the financial sponsor.Format for Assignment 2

Executive Summary
The target organization ‘Reebok Shoe Company’ is experiencing difficulty in recording data about its customers and evaluating profits from its chain stores. The business needs to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning Software to improve the current system of manual entry and profit margin calculations at each of its stores. The organization has experienced tremendous growth recently and is facing issues in managing customer records and in analysing its financial performance.
According to the estimates of this proposal, automating the current system at each of the RSC stores will increase its profitability, improve the process of book keeping, maintain its critical factor of providing quality services and thus offering satisfaction to its new and regular customers.
To address the above problem, the following solution is proposed
1. Select an ERP Software. An automated software solution specifically designed to cater to the needs of RSC’s current crisis will improve the quality of business. The modules and benefits of the proposed software are elaborated in section. Along with business process reengineering required at RSC in section.
2. Business process reengineering should be done considering the ‘as-is’ situation and ‘to be’ processes for RSC along with observing their effect on the critical factors of the business.
3. Software Development lifecycle should be followed step by step for successful transition and improved business targets. The phases are clearly stated in section
4. Analyse the changes required in the current system and outline the risks involved during the transition of old processes into the new automated system. section describes the change and risk management.
5. Post implementation activities should be diligently performed for continual improvement in the business profits and efficiency.
The proposed software solution would be an innovative approach to tackle the current crisis at RSC.

Introduction
This report aims at discussing the need of a software-based solution for the target organization ‘Reebok Shoe Company’. The proposal for an enterprise resource planning solution is stated in the following section along with the expectations of the organization. The background, purpose and scope of the organization is clearly stated. It elaborates on how the proposed solution can achieve the predicted result. The architecture illustrates that performance and profits of the organization can be improved through its implementation. The report further states the change management and risk management of the system. At last, it points out the enhancements that may be considered to improve the system in future.
Background
Reebok Shoe Company is a business of shoe alteration services offered at five locations in Australia. Elizabeth Ross started the business 15 years ago and has its stores at Brisbane, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne being the head office. RSC offers services of quality formal shoes, shoe preservation, customization of shoes. It offers 24/7 pick-up and delivery service as well. The company has achieved substantial growth in previous years on the basis of its consistency in providing quality customer service.
Major assumptions made in reference to the organization’s current situation are
· Each of the five stores manages its own financial records
· Each store records customer details on their own
· Each store follows its own criteria to issue invoices to customers and charge payments.
The main purpose of proposing this solution for the target organization is that it has witnessed considerable growth in the customers that it caters. In previous years, the current system is unable to manage the quality of service due to the increase in number of customers. The system needs to introduce new techniques for information and process management among all the stores in order to evaluate the overall finances of the organization.
Scope
The scope of ERP Software for RSC includes various activities within its applications. The new system will be fully furbished to manage information about orders, delivery, customers and accounts. This system will deal with any inconsistency in recording the data hands-on and will manage the services and finances.
The RSC- ERP System
Introducing an enterprise resource planning system is an effective choice for managing businesses involving customized product sales and related services. The shoe sales and repair industry can easily be incorporated with ERP system to automate its critical functions. In the long run, an efficient ERP system will decrement the business cost and contribute in saving time.
Current needs
· Recording of customer information involving transaction details and personal details using ERP software instead of manual entry.
· Analysis of revenue and expense of each store of RSC
· Calculating profits from each store as well as combined profit margin of the organization
· Evaluating low/high margin services.
Problem Statement
The employees at each RSC store are unable to record the customer information. The organization stakeholders are unable to evaluate revenue and profit of the business as a whole through the current system. Manually recording the details is a time consuming and laborious process. A number of inconsistencies are seen in the data during busy periods of the year. This further negatively influences...
