Introduction
Education in rural India has been one of the most discussed factors. Most of the education sector in rural
India needs improvement, which cannot be done by the government alone (Hochman, et al., 2017). There needs to be an increased level of management and leadership in terms of education in rural India. This can be done by individuals who have experience in the field (Sudan & McKay, 2015). There are many issues that arise when the idea of education in rural India is discussed. The following critical summary aims to discuss two of the major factors, which include drop outs and gender disparity, which can be solved by management and leadership. It is a summary of the presentation.
Critical Summary
The presentation aims to look at two of the major issues and situations that arise when there is a discussion about education in the rural sector.
The first slide looks at the education sector in rural India in general, and some of the problems associated with the sector. It clearly identifies the issue as poverty. It can be seen that poverty is the major influencers of education in rural India (Taraz, 2018). However, the slide is unclear on most of the problems that are being discussed. It also does not give out any statistical data regarding the correlation between poverty and education (Bryant & Pini, 2009). The slide makes assumptions regarding the knowledge of the audience.
One of the major issues that can affect education in rural India is drop outs. India has one of the highest rural dropouts in the world (Udamale, Ichikawa, Manandhar, Ishidaira & Kiem, 2014). (Mittal & Mehar, 2016). However, this is not mentioned in the slide. The slide is again, lacking in any statistical data to back the assumptions that are made. However, it does manage to make the points clear. The main reason for drop outs in schools in rural India is that there are often times, a lack of money for children to continue their education (Budge, 2006). There is however, a lot of information missing, like the lack of access that most school children in villages in India have (Cornell, 2001)....
