Introduction
“The Walmart is a well-recognized US-based retail company in the global market, and it is expanding its business throughout the world. It has become a reputed name in the business world. Despite all the strength, the business has faced a cultural challenge that affects the business reputation of Walmart.
Wal-exceptional Mart's growth and profit performance validates the success of its corporate culture, which defines the retailer's competitive edge. Furthermore, the retailer's success is a result of Wal-organizational Mart's culture and structure being strategically integrated (Mendly-Zambo, Raphael, & Taman, 2021). Wal-success Mart's is largely due to its bureaucratic organisational culture, which is defined by vertical organizational hierarchies.”
Overview
“Workers at the company's stores are divided into groups to perform certain duties; goal-oriented leadership entails providing the group with the tools and environment necessary to achieve established goals. As a result, the retailer employs a top-down management model, in which mandates and directions are passed down from executives to middle managers to store employees.
Wal-hegemonic Mart's dominance and bureaucratic leadership propel the company to the top of the global retail market, but they also contribute to a number of flaws. Among these flaws is the businesses' inability to adapt to new specialised markets with radically distinct client values and assumptions (Mendly-Zambo et al. 2021). Rather than imposing a general organisational culture, Wal-Mart should develop a niche-specific corporate culture. For synchronisation of the business plan with the consumers' assumptions and values, a niche-specific culture necessitates market research on the target market's retail experience.”
Culture of Walmart
“The Langsha group in the year 2007 ended its three-year partnership with Walmart as they it was stressing on unacceptable prices to the group so as to maintain its authority as a low-cost product provider. Along with this many other manufacturers believed that, too much squeezing of prices has led to the criticism of Walmart’s price setting strategies (Xie & Cooke, 2019).
The reason behind this was Walmart has customer centric approach whereas China believes in serving people. Walmart’s strategy offering low price cheap products is also not well taken by the locals. They expect high quality foreign goods. Walmart acquired a chain of Taiwanese store and Sam’s Club.
This also expanded its employee base and there emerged a need to train new employees at various levels so that operations can be well managed (Izadpanah, 2020). Apart from this, its strategies to deal with cross-cultural difference are not effective enough to support its business models. It also led to selling of its stakes in Chinese supermarkets.”
Influence of Politics and Power
“Every company has its own distinct culture that sets it apart from others. Organizations invest significant efforts in developing a distinct organisational culture that is seen to be the most effective in leading the organisation toward its corporate goals. Organizational culture is also influenced by the...
