What you need to do is research and describe how Ryanair implements and applies various
management theories
to conduct their business.

- Please note that examples or descriptions of the company are not sufficient on their own.

- You must describe the management theory in relation to the research you have found. For example, “CSR” examples without reference to CSR theories that you learned in class will not be awarded marks for this assessment.

- Linking your examples and research to the relevant management theory can take the form of explaining why you think the example is indicative of the suggested management theory in your opinion.

- Ideally you should include forms of illustrations, diagrams, graphs and/or trend data to illustrate your answer where necessary.

RESEARCH REQUIREMENTS:

· You must use reference (cite the research) in your answer.

· It is expected that you have between 10 (minimum) to 15 (average), but more references is better.

·
You are expected to have at least 50% (half) of your references from the lecturer notes.
Referencing the class notes simply need to be described after your statement, as in the example below:

…and is an example of disruptive innovation that disrupts an existing market and value network (Class Notes, Slide Pack #2 Innovation, Slide #34)

· High quality references are academic books, journal articles, newspaper of record, articles from industry accreditation authorities.

· Internet blogs, Wikipedia, webpage articles and similar low-quality references are not high-quality references.

Your submission should be in
report style
following the TU Dublin Style Guide. Word count is 1,500, with a plus/minus 10% allowance – not including title page, contents page or references.

Additional Pointers:

· The company you chose must be Ryanair, choosing another company will cost you substantial marks.

· You should never copy and paste from any source:

o Your work is analysed by a plagiarism detector, they are very accurate pieces of software with literally millions of website and articles in their databases to check against your work.

o However, you have to write what other people are saying on the subject, so how you do this if you paraphrase what you have sourced for your research,

o This means you effectively rewrite what they are saying in your own words.

o Everything you paraphrase should have at least one reference, and in some cases at least two reference – i.e. giving it a citation/reference (in APA or Harvard Style)

o Plagiarism of any kind will result in zero marks (see below)

· Please refer to the Rubric on marking on the next page as a guide to marking.

Submission Format:

· Word count is 1,500, with a plus/minus 10% allowance –
not
including title page, contents page or references. Marks are deducted for wordcounts outside this range.

· Your submission should be submitted in a Report Style (not an essay style) with a contents section and proper use of headings.

· Submission without out research (bibliography and in-line citations) will result in loss of marks.

· All work must be original. Any plagiarism which is confirmed will result in loss of marks and disciplinary actions. Please remember, all assignments are tested by the University’s system for plagiarism. Plagiarism includes:

·
Copying work from another assessment you already submitted

·
Paying someone to do the work

·
Asking someone else to help write your work

·
Submitting any work that is not entirely, or in part not your effort

· All references used must be in the APA 6th
edition or Harvard format.

· Your assessment should contain a title page, and contents (not included as part of the word count) i.e. submitted using the standard TU Dublin assessment template and TU Dublin style guide. Failure to do so will result in a loss of marks.

Introduction
Ryanair is a multinational airlines company. Ryanair was established in 1984. Michael O'Leary founded the company. The company has its headquarters in Dublin. The primary operational bases of Ryanair have been Dublin and London Stansted Airports. Ryanair was recorded as the most significant European budget airline in 2016.. More than 300 Boeing 737-800 aircraft are operated with Ryanair. The company is well known for its rapid expansion in the business all across Europe. The company operates in more than 40 countries in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. Although the development of the company is vast, it has received criticism against the employee relation over the years. Poor customer services have also been a notable concern for Ryanair.
Leadership, Motivation and Human Resource Management
Hiring Practices of Ryanair
Online Selection: Cadet Applications are conducted online. The online selection includes cadet application and screening (Caridá & Bonizio, 2018). The applications are screened and shortlisted by a third party.
Offline Interviews: This is an offline process of hiring suitable candidates. These interviews are conducted to draw out the personal attributes of the candidates.
Technical Interview: The candidates are asked about their knowledge in technical fields. It includes the preparation of the candidates, scanning of the instruments, aircraft handling, and risk management.
Talent Management
The selection of trained experts in the organisation is the step that Ryanair follows in ensuring talent management. Through the process of Simulation Assessment, Ryanair urges the candidates for specific activities like usual take off, general handling or non-normal events.
Leadership Styles
Michael O' Leary follows autocratic and profoundly transformational leadership styles in Ryanair. The employees of Ryanair have opined that Ryanair also supports aggressive leadership in the organisation. Concerning the transformational leadership style, the employees are extensively supervised by the higher officials in their activities (Caputo, Borbély & Dabic, 2019). As autocratic leadership refers, the leaders of Ryanair impose their stringent decisions on the employees and do not allow them to operate on their own will.
Incentivisation and Rewards for Staff
To motivate employees, Ryanair has been practicing Employee Share Option Scheme. Ryanair has been the first company to provide this scheme to its senior employees. Ryanair also offers pay incentives to increase motivation (Nowak, 2019). It contains two programs for the employees. One is the share incentive plan, and another one is the share save scheme.
Staff Performance Management
Ryanair observes 360-degree performance appraisal in employees. The performance of the employees is assessed based on 360-degree feedback. Surveys are carried out in the organisation. The organisation supervises the performance of the employees.
Corporate Social Responsibility
Ethics
Human rights are prioritised in Ryanair. The fundamental human rights are preserved in the organisation. There are no biases in the organisation based on gender, race, caste or creed, religion and disability. If these laws are broken, Ryanair can be sued.
CSR Policy
The organisation has a low ranking in CSR activities. Ryanair is at the bottom of 10 of an "Ethical Making" of 581 companies. As per the records of ACA,...
