     Restructuring is ‘a relatively straightforward affair’ as per Cameron & Green. In order to decide whether restructuring is straightforward or
not, we have to understand the term restructuring. Restructuring involves actions that are taken to reorganize the existing structures with intent to make profit or adjust to the current trends in order to gain a competitive edge. Change in ownership is a common example of restructuring. It can be organizational or financial. Organizational restructuring purpose is to cut down the operational cost of the business while the latter is mostly done when a decline in sales is recorded. The process of restructuring is met with resistance and is generally looked upon as an uncomfortable event. It brings a change and change is often resisted. Let’s talk about the reasons of downsizing to understand the reason for it’s negative connotation. To meet the competitive market and make profit, organizations do restructuring by downsizing, cost cutting, change in leadership, crisis management, mergers and acquisitions to name some. A change in strategy leads to restructuring however, this is not the case as always. Sometimes a process failure may lead to restructuring. Thus, there are mainly two reasons why restructuring is not easy. Mainly because it is a change and secondly because it leads to actions which affect employees negatively, like downsizing. According to me it is not ‘a relatively straightforward affair’ although; I believe it is essential to every organization. The ease and success of restructuring depends entirely on the drivers of change, for example the leadership.
    Authors Cameron & Green believes that restructuring is ‘a relatively straightforward affair’ and to support this they have given metaphors. They believe if the organizational change metaphor is re-collected it could be placed in the machine metaphor. The latter is supported by the following assumptions:
