For this assignment you will create an Excel model to compare two options and examine detailed costs for each option. An Excel model is a useful way to compare things because of the table format and calculating capabilities.


1. Requirements – Your assignment is to prepare an Excel spreadsheet showing analysiscomparing two options--outsourcing to the cloud versus in-house. Please be sure to include all of the following:


a. The analysis should represent3years of outsourcing of an enterprise-level application to the cloud compared to3years of keeping the application in-house.
(25 points)



b. Show detailed costs for the cloud outsourcing option and detailed costs for the in-house option. Include the subscription fee for three years of cloud outsourcing, showing each year as column headings. The rows should capture what you believe the types of costs would be. The numbers are whatever you make up to be or based on any research you may have accumulated or prior knowledge of outsourcing, or a real application you know of. Typically, if you keep the application in-house, you have hardware and software and professional services costs.

c. Calculate totals foreachcolumn and row in your spreadsheet. For example, what are the total costs in year 1 for outsourcing to the cloud? Calculate at the bottom of the column or row.To make a good comparison, you will want to total for all three years for each of the two options as well.

d. Abusiness value for the model (your comparative analysis) should be written into the Excel on a separate tab with text. Write at least a paragraph explaining how this type of analysis can help businesses make decisions and the value it brings. Consider these questions, “How does comparing the cost of two options in an Excel model like this help the business?” and "What does the analysis show?"(25 points)
