Four Critical Steps of Investigating Child Abuse and Neglect Cases Includes-
1. Go to the Source of Information
The first step that should be taken is to reach up to the source, from where the information has arrived.
· Collect information about the injury- collecting information about the injury from the source would provide a wider context of the scenario.
· Conduct interviews- taking interviews of the source would help in sequentially getting the information.
2. Get Records and Reports
· Seek Prior Reports on Abuse- collecting the prior reports on the abuse would help in analyzing the intensity of the incident and it would also work as a record during the further process (Melkman, Hershkowitz & Zur, 2017).
· Review Medical Records from Doctors, Clinic, or Hospital- the next step would be to review the medical records from the doctor or the clinic to gain an insight into the seriousness of the matter and the actual position of the child's health.
