Discuss the results in Tables 1 and 2 and make a summary conclusion. Your answer must
have the following 3 sections:
Section 1: Summary discussion of descriptive statistics (Table 1) of post-operative
outcomes by CKD stages.
Section 2: Summary discussion of logistic regression analysis results in Table 2.
Please don’t interpret OR or its 95% CI.
Section 3: Make a brief conclusion about the effect of CKD on post-operative
mortality and complications.
[6 marks] Assess the association between SBP and AGE graphically. Further using an
appropriate statistical method measure the strength of this association and evaluate
its’ statistical significance.
ii) [7 marks] Perform appropriate univariate (simple) regression analyses to evaluate
individual (unadjusted) effect of AGE, GENDER, WEIGHT, DBP, drug-X and
SMOKE on SBP. Note: please don’t perform model adequacy analysis for any of the
above simple regression models. Interpret the beta coefficients and 95% CIs for AGE
and GENDER only.
iii) [5 marks] Using a stepwise backward variable selection method select the variables
(from the list of AGE, GENDER, WEIGHT, DBP, drug-X and SMOKE) that are
significantly related to SBP. Interpret the beta coefficients and 95% CI for a
categorical covariate in the stepwise regression model.
