Maths solutions:
Ans 1 a) Equation for a line parallel to the given line is y = 3x – 5 since parallel li
nes have same slope
Ans 1 b) Equation for a line perpendicular to the given line y = -1/3x + 5 since perpendicular lines have reciprocal value of slope with opposite sign
Ans 2 a) By solving simultaneous equations graphically we get, x = 4 and y = 3
Ans 2 b) On solving algebraically we get,
2? − ? = 5 ---[1]
Or x = 5 + y/2
? + 1.5? = 9 --- [2]
On solving value of x in equation 2 we get,
Y = 3
And x = 4
Values are same as above.
Ans 3. Graph for inequality x > 12 on the number line below
-15 -12 -9 -6 -3 0 3 6 9 12 15
Ans 4. Solving the following inequality for (2?−3)/5 ≥ 2
We get,
(2?−3)/5 ≥ 2
2x-3 ≥ 2 * 5
2x-3 ≥ 10
2x-3 + 3 ≥ 10 + 3
2x ≥ 13 We get the answer x ≥ 13/2
