Abstract
The future of farming belongs to IT interventions. The conventional agricultural norms are prevalent in some parts of the world, particularly in the context of the developing nations like India and Pakistan etc. The following is an analysis of the relevance of IT products and
how they can be applied to enhance the conventional norms of agriculture used by the farmers in these regions. The research highlights the key areas of using IT as a possible outcome to various obstacles which the farmers have to encounter and how they can address these issues in the light of interventions effectively used through IT techniques.
Introduction
Agricultural sector has been said to be the basic factor behind human survival. In fact, the connection between the individual societies and agriculture is interrelated to each other in the sense that the one compliments the other; the farming mostly depends on the individual and combined markets for selling crops and thus, sustains its economy. On the other hand, food, the basic need of people, is supplied through various farming methods. In the context of modern advancement of technology particularly information technology, the demand has emerged on behalf of the agricultural industry to have positive interventions made on behalf of the IT sector. A positive collaboration of the two sectors would provide immensely fruitful consequences relates to the updating of crops, breeding methods as well as various farming trends enhanced through IT techniques used. The following is a research overview that examines the relevance of IT sector into agriculture, setting up the concept that the future of agriculture belongs to some of the innovative technical implications like indoor vertical farming, automation and robotics, livestock technology, modern greenhouse practices, precision agriculture and artificial intelligence.
Problem Statement
At first, it is significant to examine the problems that lay back in the background of the needs of intervening by IT based techniques into agriculture. There are two clear divisions in this criterion of research. The first one belongs to the application of advanced It and communication techniques in developed nations while the other one is relatable to the conventional methods of farming used by the developing regions like India and China. The ongoing researches and developments in IT based projects to refine agricultural farming need no introduction; one of the most advanced techniques is to use artificial intelligence which reduces human efforts in work. The farming methods of developing regions mostly depend on traditional ways. There is not much application of technology in there. Especially in the context of communicating, the techniques usages are seen at minimum level in developing regions of the world though, in developed nations, the scenario has improved to some extent in terms of using IT and communication techniques.
Additionally, traditional framing brings natural hindrances that affect the overall value of the crop produced within a year. Several examples exist where farmers had to cut their costs or they did not get sufficient value of the produced crop just because they could lose a significant part of it due to unwanted external factors like weather conditions, floods, storms as well as the prepared crop destroyed by the wandering cattle. It happens in developing regions that every year, produced crop becomes wasted by some expected conditions posed before the farmers to which, they are helpless. It simply affects their investment and ROI which they expect from the prepared crop. There is a great need to anticipate solutions to these problems in the light if what IT can do to these issues by intervening positively. It has perfect solution to address this concerns, there are positive interventions—artificial intelligence for example—which can be applied as the modern farming methods so that accurate predictions about weather can be made.
Research Questions
The following research questions will be examined by the proposal:
· What are some of the most positive innovation of IT and communication technology which can be applied to refine farming ways?
· What is the current impact of agricultural ways over the economical sustainability of farmers and how IT can alleviate it?
· Does any of the previous study justify the relevance of IT in agriculture? If so, how will the present research influence the course of research?
Literature Review
Ku (2019) view innovation as the key driver of change in the modern context of agriculture. He is of the view that modern farming can be evolved, if It based interventions are applied in their most advanced forms. A combination of the two may result in the form of some great crops produced over the course of a year. For example, instead of using workforce deployed in fields,...
