Jean Piaget gave four stages of mental development namely:
· Sensorimotor stage: birth to 2 years
At this stage sensations and vibrations play a major role in cognitive development.
· Preoperational Stage: ages 2 to 7
Pictures, symbols and words are identified by them and start thinking concretely (Hanfstingl, Barbara, Gertraud Benke &Yuefeng Zhang).
· Concrete operational stage: ages 7 to 11
The logics and conversation start taking place making their thoughts organized.
· Formal operational stage: ages 12 and up
