Introduction
The beginning of global competition and the timely acquisition of high technology have forced industries to change method they operate. More and more IT investments are being touted as an benefit that provides ability to achieve stronger, more flexible production processes to respond to ongoing changes and improve organizational performance. IT automates lots of control function with a friendly system that is easy to adapt to the underlying or line management. With the instant growth of the high-end technologies, efficient, instant communication and increasingly fierce competition, many companies are force to seek the comparative benefit to survive. It has been argued that MAS as well as resulting data to assist in the management of decision-making processes can provide comparative advantages in a competitive and dynamic environment (A Youssef, 2013).
Identify any three (3) specific examples of the different types of management accounting methods and/or techniques from the case.
The academic community widely praises contemporary management accounting methods (for example JIT, BSC, TQM), but business-related recommendations are not necessarily recognized by the industry. The purpose of this paper is to examine acquisition of the main IT-based MAP by a modern multinational company to assess usefulness and relevance of its functions by determining the type and principle of the systems used (Watts, Yapa and Dellaportas, 2014). Used to upgrade or modify its system. Company-A implements system that can includes functions that include multiple business functions, but the selection system used by Company-A will also determine relevance of system. In the face of the decision on which MAS to implement, the Company A chooses hedging and implements a series of technologies. The SAP R / 3 systems have built-in JIT, BSC, ABC, TQM, benchmarking and standard costing every user of system can look up data based on some of these methods, but does not fully utilize them as intended originally. Company-A is a manufacturer that uses simple program manufacturers that produce fewer raw materials and fewer steps. Therefore, they believe that the standard form of ABC / ABM is too complex to meet their needs. Similarly, the BSC is also a JIT to some extent (AZIZI, FAHIM and SHAHROKHI, 2013). Although the system allows these technologies to be used interdependently, Company A has generalized its processes and utilized several aspects of every system. This means that they utilize a few activity drivers to allocate overhead, run some scorecard, occasionally benchmark the system internally and externally, take advantage of some supplies and certain deliverables in a timely manner, and develop their own security-containing TQM iterations (Watts, Yapa and Dellaportas, 2014).
Although Company A has incurred significant expenses for these SAP R / 3 systems, it plans to remove many features and restore previous management accounting practices. Due to ease of manufacturing process, the use of ABC and BSC is considered to be fundamentally unnecessary, while the parts of the TQM and JIT have been merged and modify to suit organization. Respondents believe that the cost and time needs to totally incorporate the process is unreasonable. Company-A found that after the implementation of the SAP R / 3, added functionality did not improve the processing or processing of information. In fact, innovative system has created a complex system to some extent that many managers cannot understand (Kim, Ju-Eun and Hoyoung Kang, 2014). The rise of the modern MA emerged in late 20th century and is expected to revolutionize management accounting methods. Management accounting does not seem to be tied to cost accounting because technologies for example ABC, JIT and TQM are widely used in the industry. Motivations for adopting management accounting changes are usually divided into two wide categories, namely, strategic or lasting changes as well as operational and short-term changes.
Are MAS relevant to contemporary organisations? Discuss this with reference to:
What evidence is there from the case company? Include examples in your answer.
The MAS is most vital source of data and is also significant to provide strategic objectives of the organization. Therefore, some weakness and inefficiency in system will decrease productivity and efficiency moreover cause a lot of issues in organization....
