Assessment 3 has been designed to test your understanding of how to access, appraise and use the literature to justify a need for a research study or project. The learning in this assessment relates to learning outcome 2 formulate a research question based on an observable health and social care problem; determine whether the research question can be researched; and whether it is practical to proceed. critically evaluate and synthesise research evidence to produce a coherent review of the relevant literature; demonstrate an advanced understanding of the legal and ethical obligations of a researcher working in the health and social science area; critically evaluate and reflect on the suitability of various research designs often utilised by health and social science researchers; and critically evaluate the degree of credibility of selected sampling and data collection approaches. Purpose of this assessment Completing this assessment will allow students to develop the skills to be able to research a "broad" area of interest. The skills you will have an opportunity to develop include learning how to: search for and locate relevant literature using library and internet catalogues and databases; critically analyse information found in scholarly sources; synthesise new knowledge; and develop valid arguments for the need to embark on future research.
