Hums 1035: Aboriginal cultures (SP2 2015) Assignment 2: Case Study Presentation 1:  Conduct a virtual tour of Adelaide as a Kaurna landscape through a visit to the Kaurna Walking Trail. Use your presentation to communicate your experience of this tour and discuss a range of resources that could be used to research the area Presentation 2:  One of the significant characteristics of Australian Indigenous worldviews is a specific relationship to land or ‘country’. Aboriginal people say, “The country needs its people. Healthy country means healthy people”. Discuss in relation to social and emotional wellbeing Presentation 3:  Describe your visit to the Living Kaurna Cultural Centre and develop a presentation that communicates your experience of the history and culture of the Kaurna people. Presentation 4: • Describe your visit to at least two venues from the following list and consider the role of art in Aboriginal societies, both traditional and contemporary. Demonstrate the importance of place, environment, materials, social function and political uses of art in Aboriginal societies, and the representation of this in diverse art spaces/museums/galleries: - Tandanya National Indigenous Cultural Institute; - South Australian Museum, Australian Aboriginal Cultures Gallery; - Art Gallery of South Australia, permanent and temporary collection displays of Aboriginal art; - A public art space, such as the Adelaide Festival Centre, Visual Arts Galleries; Anne and Gordon Samstag Museum of Fine Art; etc, when Indigenous art is the focus exhibition (check the exhibition program); - A commercial gallery with an Indigenous exhibition – your tutor will provide a list of galleries. Presentation 5:  Use a range of resources to describe your visit to Camp Coorong to show how this has helped you to gain an understanding of Ngarrindjeri history, culture, relationships to the land and waters, and River Murray Issues.
