Introduction
There are times when we hav
e to rethink the reality of the situations. Many concepts in life look sceptical in a sense when we question them that where is the existence of this way of behavior or agreement coming from. Often we are instructed, told, explained a way of living or behavior which happen to have some sort of authentication based on ancient belief or public opinion. Out of everything we follow in life, most of the things are mere constructs that give rise to our opinions about anything and everything we experience (Unknown, 2014).
Social Construction is such a phenomenon that tells us that most of the things we follow or abide with are not real but exist because we have given a nod to them as a construct or a way to look at something. Examples of such agreements are – Society, Nations, Caste system, Religion or Money; they do not exist without human agreement involved. Even the fact of being an individual seems like a construct. It follows the pathway of interaction among different individuals; a group is also a construct in that sense.
Social Construction
‘In communication conjecture and social knowledge the trend that scrutinizes the unanimous agreement constructed by the world that is built on common supposition about actuality is said to be a social construction’. Social construct is an idealism of facts that a group of people from same origin or may not be from same origin agree upon that may or may not be real, it is purely based on assumptions. As mentioned by Giddens and Alexander Street Press. (1991), it appears usual or evident to people as they all hold the same belief and violating those beliefs might be hurting or disappointing to them. These are notions assigned to the events or objectives, also relationships that mere are connotations given by the society. Having a well settled job, becoming a mother to an adopted kid, assigning a power to a position such as on to a Prime minister or President of the nation, stealing something is said to be as a bad habit, rebelling against certain set of laws as they does not sound to a group of people fair, all are constructs made by people under similar understandings and agreements.
Challenges faced
Any sport or game is tied into certain set of rules. A game of basketball can be played in any way intended, but in doing so, the person is not abiding with the rules assigned to it. Rules give a game a meaning and drive way to go about it, win and be fair, which is also a construct. Gender recognition is one social construct that is a hot topic to discuss. The society is divided into men and women under a social construct who have rules of interaction and behavior for each other and for oneself.
Now if we talk about Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and Bisexual (LGBT)...
