LITERATURE REVIEW ON RENEWABLE ENERGY
Abstract
Renewable energy has managed to emerge as a best alternative to control the alarming environmental conditions. Renewable energy is aimed at fulfilling the increasing needs of the industries and indi
viduals in a sustainable manner so as to secure the future of the coming generations. Moreover, extracting energy from resources that can be replenished will provide a cleaner alternative leading to reduced toxins and pollutants in the environment thus assisting people to live a healthy life.

Introduction
With continuous depletion of the energy resources and the adverse impact of over exploitation on the environment, the use of renewable energy to fulfill the ever increasing energy needs of individuals and industries is gaining popularity day by day. Renewable energy is the energy that is collected from natural resources, which can be renewed or naturally replenished. Some of the natural sources through which renewable energy can be collected are sunlight, wind, water in the form of rain, waves or tides and geothermal heat. As today’s generation is more environment conscious and is more inclined towards eco-friendly sources of energy, technically advanced methods of harnessing energy from these sources is coming into practice. Through this paper efforts have been made to highlight the importance of renewable energy by gathering data from various literary sources written by reserchers. Also, the paper shall highlight the sources of renewable energy in depth and the technically advanced methods of harnessing the energy will be discussed as well.
Literature Review
Renewable energy sector is booming as the innovations have brought down the costs and also are able to keep their promise of providing a clean energy future to the coming generations. As this energy comes from sources and processes that can be replenished, it is often referred to as clean energy as it has managed to eliminate the dirty fossil fuels to a large extent. As stated by Infield and Freris (2020) many of the countries have started relying on the renewable energy resources to fulfill their energy needs. However, as mentioned by Beck and Martinot (2016) several barriers to renewable energy have been identified. These barriers are:
Costs and Pricing: Many are of the view that renewable energy sources cost more than other sources and therefore their decisions while selecting the sources of energy are driven by cost. They are of the view that fossil fuels are much cheaper to use than other renewable energy alternatives.
Subsidies for fuels: Several organisations such as the World Bank and International Energy Agency on the global level have been providing subsidies for fossil fuels. These subsidies may lie in the range of $100-200 billions, which is huge enough to give renewable energy a competitive disadvantage.
High Initial Investments: Renewable energy investments usually involve high investments at the initial stage in comparison to other energy sources and therefore people do give a second through before adapting renewable energy sources.
There are legal as well as regulatory compliances that have an adverse impact on the adaption of renewable energy. These have been identified as:
Lack of legal...
