Assessment Description PART A (In-Class for both Face-to-Face and Online Students Draft Report Framework) In Week 3/4 during class, groups (of 4 students) will be formed and the group will need to select an Australian Publicly listed company/organisation from one of the following industries: Tourism, Media and Entertainment, Healthcare, Mining, Agriculture and Manufacturing. The list of companies are available via the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). You can find the list of companies at https://www.asx.com.au/. You should confirm your choice with your Facilitator before commencing your Assessment As part of the in-class activities, you will develop a group draft report framework (that is approved by your Facilitator) to assist you in preparing your individual report. Attendance is compulsory for this in-class part of the assessment (face-to-face and online). Each student will individually submit a copy of their group framework via Moodle and their individual report via Turnitin. PART B. (Individual) By looking at the organisation/company’s website, business articles and Annual Reports, you will be able to see whether it is possible to access enough information about its organisational practices to address the following: 1. Identify how your selected organisation/company is seeking to improve the performance of its workforce? Using at least TWO performance related initiatives discuss the ways that the organisation/company might measure the success of the initiatives? 2. Identify the key components of the “corporate culture” of your selected organisation/company and using at least TWO culture-based initiatives discuss how they are trying to improve its culture and how they might measure the success of the initiatives? Company now a days, has increased their focus on increasing the profi
tability. It implies the cutting of the undesirable expenditure or motivates employees more to give more output, which in return increase the profitability and outcomes. The average employee may find it difficult to adjust in this environment, this means that longer work hours. It can also leads to dissatisfaction among the employee. According to the CEO of the cooper energy, an environment of the transparency, empowerment, accountability and trust will always made employees work harder and enhance their performance. Describing about the initiative principle, it refers to the eagerness to start actions without being told to them. A simple of this can be, when employee has told some things to do by his supervisor or manager like working on the communication skills or to improve the sales. If there is performance related initiatives, the employee needs no and s/he automatically would start taking initiatives in the operation of the business and helps in boosting profitability. The initiative of the employee directly related to the motivation model in the organization.
Related Theories
According to the management theory of the human relation represented by Elton Mayo, he conducts the experiment, which designed to improve the productivity of the human relation movements. Chin (2016) has described the theory focuses on the fact that there is a great relationship between the working conditions and the productivity of the employees. He started changing the working conditions like break times, length of the workday. Every change in the working condition has a serious impact on the performance of the worker. The productivity increases with every positive change. The theory also concluded that improvement in productivity is not only due to the changes introduced but also due to the result of the researchers paying attention to the workers and make them feel they are valued. This theory gave rise to the fact that employee’s personal performance and initiative can be improve if the employees are motivate by the personal attention.
According to the theory of the personal initiative, employees with personal trait are influences by the environment with addition to the behaviour they possessed. As indicated by Hong, Liao, Raub and Han (2016) the personal initiative idea is solely dependent on the fact that employee is not influence by his or her environment. It has been seen in the behaviour syndrome that results in individual taking an active and self-starting a approach. In order to deal with this situation, organization has to bring changes in the social and environment. The personal initiative model focuses on open ideas that come up and have been neglected by others as a good measure to improve initiative level and performance of the employee.
