Anatomy
Among the cranial nerves, the vagus nerve is the longest. 
It encompasses sensory and motor fibres and has the greatest proportion in the body due to its passage through th
e thorax and neck to the abdomen (Fitchett et al., 2021). 
It contains visceral and somatic afferent fibres, as well as special and general visceral efferent fibres. 
The heart, primary blood vessels, lungs, airways, stomach, intestines, and oesophagus are all innervated by it (Farmer et al., 2021).

It is related to the sixth and fourth pharyngeal arches' derivatives.

The vagus nerve regulates internal organ processes like heart rate, respiratory rate, digestion, and vasomotor activity as well as reflex actions like sneezing, coughing, vomiting, as well as swallowing. 
The vagus nerve is also involved in satiation after eating. The vagus nerve controls a portion of the heart's parasympathetic innervation, which is held by the thoracic ganglia.
The vagus nerves are crucial in stimulating gastric secretion (Farmer et al., 2021).

No. I can not live without a vagus nerve as it is among the body's most crucial nerves.
