Introduction
Organisations at present are recruiting employees from d
ifferent backgrounds of gender, religion, nationality, colour and so on. This has created diverse workforces everywhere. A diverse workplace can bring about success to an organisation as they can be more innovative, efficient at problem solving and capable of completing tasks on time. However, they are also complex groups which need proper management due to the differences present in these groups. If they are not managed properly then these teams can turn out to harbour negative feelings within them, become less productive and efficient. The following assignment will discuss the importance of teamwork at present workplace scenario. It will also discuss the problems related to teamwork as well as some effective steps that should be taken by the management of an organisation to ensure efficient teamwork within their groups.
Importance Of Teamwork in An Organisation
Teamwork has been gaining and increasing importance in today's digitised work environment. Efficient teamwork in an organisation helps it in faster innovation, quick problem solving, gaining higher productivity, etc.
Enjoyable workplace environment
Teamwork helps in building strong interpersonal relations between the employees while they get to understand each other, respect their boundaries and opinions, etc. These make the employees more collaborative, bringing about the feeling of inclusivity and safety, making the workplace desirable (Sanyal & Hisam, 2018).
Increases work efficiency
Working in teams helps employees in accomplishing tasks at a faster and more efficient rate as compared to all of them working individually. This also minimises the workload on individual employees and shared ideas and responsibilities make the task more innovative and efficient (Sanyal & Hisam, 2018).
Increased learning opportunities
The employees with a team have different experiences, knowledge and skills. Working as a team helps everyone to infect one another which increases learning opportunities to those who are new or less experienced. Additionally, old and experienced employees can also gain insight to new and creative ideas from the new employees (Hassan & Raheemah, 2021).
Increases accountability
Efficient teamwork also means a safe workplace environment which promotes inclusivity, where everyone is accepted irrespective of their different backgrounds.
