Introduction
Social work pra
ctices pertain to provide aids to the vulnerable as well as marginalised populations living across nation. In fact, there are many challenges and theories of work to confront these challenges in the context of community services offered to the vulnerable people. There is variety of needs, with which these populations have to live and at the same time, they have to undergo the structural influences that are widely spread in society such as the impacts of poverty and lack of employment in spite of having enough education. At times, lack of proper literacy level also works as a potential barrier in the way of social work professionals to reach out to people and make them understand how social work practice can alleviate their life norms. The following paper examines these potential barriers in the light of four domains of human service, as identified in social work.
Four Domains of Human Service
At first, it is important to recognise four domains of human service and the way, in which they can be applied to the community service in social work practices. In fact, the term ‘service’ itself indicates towards the opportunities to empower people and families living in society and these families and people do not avail the common benefits on behalf of federal or state government. Thus, when it comes to identify the domains, the first two domains are to empower the social status and provide common facilities, which are under the category of fundamental human rights (Bach-Mortensen, Lange & Montgomery, 2018).
These can be housing, employment and enhancement of the literacy level of a particular population. Secondly, holistic model of care is also deemed as a service criterion in the modern context, which can be implemented through social work practices. Most of the healthcare service providers now days collaborate their services with the social work professionals so that the accessibility of care can be increased for selected population especially the diverse cultural groups living in a particular region.
In the context of other two service domains, enhancing the operable levels of service criteria and proper monitoring of the implemented services can be recognised. Structuring of information through proper channel within the system is the need of the social work practices. When a policy is designed, it has to be ensured that the policy will be effective enough to help people fight their own battles related to their social, economic and healthcare based needs and expectations (Wang, 2018).
Therefore, it is always necessary to review the policies and keep the entire system updated about the status of the policy implemented. Monitoring is more like the next domain where the efficacy of an implemented policy is carefully examined and examined for changes, if any is deemed necessary over a course of given time span.
Concept of Social Justice
In the context of social work practices, understanding the concept of social justice is important from broad social perspectives. In fact, the investigation of social justice relates to the historical facts, which have prevented a particular segment of society from having equal rights of living. The example of the same can be named as racism, gender biases and slavery traditions of the past.
These social evils kept a particular social group of individuals on the edge of the society; their rights were manipulated and they were not given equal opportunities of growth and sustainability, which they deserved (Teater, 2019). Social Justice is a combination of legal and social principles that govern the society from the perspective of equality; they tend to provide chances of progress to all so that the society can have equal norms of living.
Moreover, when it comes to social justice, it has to be noted that government structures the policies and frameworks related to social work practices with regard to maintain the equality and social decorum. It is the responsibility of the government to design policies, which encourage people to understand the fact that every human being is equal regardless of caste, creed or colour and this is in his...
