The groups will be responsible for leading a presentation of not more than 30 minutes on a relevant strategic management challenge for a particular sector of the Tourism and Hospitality industry. A peer group review process of Questions and Answers will engage all students in the class in an extended discussion of the Group Presentations as they are delivered in the Tutorial sessions in Weeks 6-12. The discussion leader groups are expected to choose a strategic management topic that interests the majority of group members and is a contemporary strategic management problem that challenges management in the particular sector chosen for the Tourism and Hospitality industry. Each group should develop a proposed solution to address that problem. Some sectors within the Tourism and Hospitality sectors that may be of interest include the following; hotels, restaurants, convention centres, resorts, cruise ship lines, bars/pubs, nightclubs, theme parks and entertainment facilities generally. Each group will have to explain the process through which they identified the strategic management issue, the strategic management concepts involved and how the proposed strategic management solution was developed to address the identified problem for that sector in the Tourism and Hospitality industry. This must be a high-level managerial presentation. The key to the presentation is to make it informative and interesting. In particular, your presentation will demonstrate your understanding of the strategic management challenge you have identified and the strategic recommendation that you have made. Grading Criteria / Rubric A Grading Rubric is posted in the subject Assessment block on Moodle. This Assessment represents 25% of the final grade for the course. Peer Review Evaluation A peer group review process of Questions and Answers will engage all students in the class in an extended discussion of the Group Presentation. Each group must plan and prepare for this session.
