Appropriate academic writing and referencing are inevitable academic skills that you must develop and demonstrate in work being presented for assessment. The content of high quality work presented by a student must be fully referenced within-text citations and a Reference List at the end. Kent strongly recommends you refer to the Academic Learning Support Workshop materials available on the Kent Learning Management System (Moodle). For details please click the link http://moodle.kent.edu.au/kentmoodle/mod/folder/view.php?id=3606 and download the file titled “Harvard Referencing Workbook”. This Moodle Site is the location for Workbooks and information that are presented to Kent Students in the ALS Workshops conducted at the beginning of each Trimester. Kent recommends a minimum of FIVE (5) references in work being presented for assessment. Unless otherwise specifically instructed by your Lecturer or as detailed in the Unit Outline for the specific Assessment Task, any paper with lessthan five (5) references may be deemed not meeting a satisfactory standard and possibly be failed. Content in Assessment tasks that includes sources that are not properly referenced according to the “Harvard Referencing Workbook” will be penalised. Kent Institute Australia Pty. Ltd. As a general rule there is an allowable discretionary variance to the word count in that it is generally accepted that a student may go over or under by 10% than the stated length. GENERAL NOTES FOR REFERENCING References are assessed for their quality. Students should draw on quality academic sources, such as books, chapters from edited books, journals etc. The textbook for the Unit of study can be used as a reference, but not the Lecturer Notes. The Assessor will want to see evidence that a student is capable of conducting their own research. Also, in order to help Assessors determine a student’s understanding of the work they cite, all in-text references (not just direct quotes) must include the specific page number(s) if shown in the original. Before preparing your Assessment Task or own contribution, please review this ‘YouTube’ video (Avoiding Plagiarism through Referencing) by clicking on the following link: link: http://moodle.kent.edu.au/kentmoodle/mod/folder/view.php?id=3606 A search for peer-reviewed journal articles may also assist students. These type of journal articles can be located in the online journal databases and can be accessed from the Kent Library homepage. Wikipedia, online dictionaries and online encyclopaedias are acceptable as a starting point to gain knowledge about a topic, but should not be over-used – these should constitute no more than 10% of your total list of references/sources. Additional information and literature can be used where these are produced by legitimate sources, such as government departments, research institutes such as the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), or international organisations such as the World Health Organisation (WHO). Legitimate organisations and government departments produce peer reviewed reports and articles and are therefore very useful and mostly very current. The content of the following link explains why it is not acceptable to use non-peer reviewed websites (Why can't I just Google?): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N39mnu1Pkgw (thank you to La Trobe University for access to this video).

Introduction to the Report
In the report, that is to be presented here is aimed to illustrate in details about the South-Eastern United States-based The Apple Orange Company. The background of the company, the history and growth of the organisation, the principal purpose or aim of the organisation, the bureaucratic structure of the organisation, cultural values of the organisation, the management concerns that are not problematic for the organisation. Finally, after the identification of the significant management areas, some recommendations will be provided to the management so that the sites of the problem might be sorted soon.
a) Background, History and Growth of the Organisation
The South-Eastern United States-based, Apple Orange Company is at present by Old John Graves, whose father and uncle incorporated the company some fifty years ago. The Apple-Orange Company grows and markets apples and oranges for the last fifty years. Due to improved harvesting and marketing strategies, the company has been quite successful in its particular area. At present, besides Old John Graves, he is assisted by his son Carl who has returned from Vietnam. Hence, it is a sort of family business and the company has no official or formal policies and procedures.
However, they have a plan to develop some sets of legal rules for the organisation and structure that will be imperative to be adhered by the employees, including the bureaucratic bodies. Nevertheless, at present, the controlling position is still occupied and maintained by old John and is efficiently assisted by his son Carl. Hence, there are several staffs such as managers, field workers and even some agricultural scientists, whose primary purpose in the organisation is to look after the quality of the produced apples and oranges.
If something is found wrong or below grade, then it is the official obligations of those agricultural scientists to discern some new strategies. When the company started, in the initial years, only Old John's father and Uncle had to do all the activities including production, harvesting, marketing and even quality checking of their own. However, in this long span of fifty years, the organisation has enormously intensified its operation and marketing abilities. This is the result of hardworking of John's father and uncle and now of John and Carl.
b) Purpose of the Organisation— The Apple-Orange Company
As the name implies, the organisation Apple-Orange is associated with the harvest, development and marketing of Apple and oranges, especially in the market of South-Eastern United States. The company, with the assistance of some workers and managers, grow and harvest apples and oranges in their land that is favourable for harvesting such products. After this, the quality checking Agricultural scientists are aimed to investigate in details about the quality of the harvested oranges and apples. In this stage of quality checking, it is also attempted seriously to improve the varieties grown and even to increase the crop yield. Finally, on these agricultural scientists assure that the qualities of the apples and oranges are not at all degraded and contains reasonable health concerns it is forwarded for marketing in the market. The marketing issues are carried out by some of the trustworthy wholesalers and the fruit distributors in the South-Eastern United States region.
Finally, after going through all these stages, it is distributed in the market for the commoners. Hence, from the stages of operation, aforesaid, it is clear that the company cares more about the health factors of the aboriginal and less for their profit (Yoo & Lee, 2018). It can also be said that, though the organisation The Apple-Orange Company can procure some profits from the market, however, the cause of the society is also served because of such altruistic attempts (Ksiezak, 2016). Therefore, it can be asserted that the name of The Apple-Orange Company can be enlisted under the category of non-profitable organisation, as the turnovers that are achieved by this organisation...
