OES 4 What is a Hazard mitigation plan? A mitigation plan establishes a broad local vision and guiding principles for reducing hazard risk, and proposes specific mitigation actions to eliminate or reduce identified vulnerabilities. Its Purpose: To protect life and property by reducing the potential for future damages and economic losses that result from known hazards; To qualify for additional grant funding, in both the pre-disaster and post-disaster environment; To speed recovery and redevelopment following future disaster events; To sustain and enhance existing governmental coordination throughout Monterey County and demonstrate a firm local commitment to hazard mitigation principles; and To comply with federal and state requirements for local hazard mitigation plans. 5 “Protect the public health, safety, quality of life, environment, and economy of Monterey County by reducing the long-term risk of damage and loss to known hazards through coordinated planning, partnerships, capacity building, and implementation of effective risk reduction measures.” 6 OUTCOMES Protect life and property Minimize economic losses Enhance community resiliency and sustainability Reduce burden on local governments, and taxpayers Break the cycle of repetitive disaster damages Speed disaster recovery and redevelopment Integrate hazard mitigation with other local planning and decision-making activities Comply with federal and state requirements, and to qualify for additional grant funding 7 Planning History 2006-2007 First Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan 2015-2016 Update 2019-2020 Update process will be led by Monterey County; All 12 cities participate in the planning process, includes special districts 8 2019-20 UPDATE OBJECTIVES Enhance the mitigation strategy; Improve plan maintenance procedures to increase resilience; and Conduct widespread public outreach and stakeholder involvement. Enhance the mitigation strategy to include specific, achievable, and measurable hazard mitigation and climate adaptation actions Improve plan maintenance procedures to establish a sustained, long-term process of increasing the resilience of all communities and ensuring hazard mitigation is continuously integrated into all community planning efforts. Lassen County is a county formed on 1st April 1864 by a European American Peter Lassen and was also named after the Lassen Peak in the adjoining Shasta County. A “county” is called an admini

It was formed after a two day extensive war between the Plumas and the Shasta counties known as the “Sagebrush war” or the “Roop county war”.
Lassen is a County in the northeast of California, USA. Lassen County has a total population of 34895 as of 2010 and is stretched over an area of 4720 square miles. The county has only one city incorporated in it which is known as “Susanville”.
Lassen County now consists of Susanville, micropolitan statistical area and California. It was previously a mining, farming and a lumber area. The economy of the county depends on its two states and a federal prison. The former is Susanville and the latest if Herlong.
