Introduction:
Braleycroft Care is actually a purpose-built accommodation for the people who needs medical attention. It is located in April location of Spring Gardens in Romford, Essex. It is located in a residential area and very close to all the basic amenities and shops, has very smooth access to trains and buses to travel in and around London. They offer a wide range of medical facilities, palliative care
and other services to the residents. The residents are provided with services such as specialist areas, supporting the patients suffering from dementia. They even provide counselors and counseling facilities for the young adults and provides them with trainings that helps them to live an independent life in the future. Thus, it gives scope to live a healthier life for the people who need medical attention.
As a part of shadow experiencing, I have done 15 hours shift in total. Every week I spent 3 hours at Braleycroft Care in order to understand the hard work that goes on behind taking care of so many members. During my shadow experiencing I have spent my time understanding the importance of each job role in this resident care and how can each one’s performance hinder the running of this organization. However, in this essay I will point out some of the strengths and weaknesses of Braleycroft Care. This essay will also illustrate some of the particular areas where I want to focus and might give Braleycroft Care some scopes of improvement.
The following points will discuss about some of the strengths of Braleycroft Care home:
1. It is located in a prime residential location where the residents can get access to all the amenities and shops for their day to day use. They provide residence in amidst the environment along with specialized medical attention for the patients suffering from dementia. The home care has 80 suits which accommodates just 80 of the residents as it focuses in providing utmost care to their residents.
2. They offer emergency response 24*7 as they have their own helpline that can assist you at any time of the day. Braleycroft home care is very much efficient in their health care needs and gives intensive care for the patients suffering from dementia. According to Shin Yin Li in her paper described about the benefits of the dementia friendly community (Lin,2017). They have made their mark by providing fast and appropriate responses.
3. The employees are passionate towards their work and it helps in improving the relationship between the staffs and the residents. The staffs ensure to maintain their relationships and thrives in providing the best services possible Braleycroft Care. They even have training counselors who helps the young adults to develop various soft skills which might actually come to use in helping them live an independent life.
Although Braleycroft takes exceptional measures to ensure the health and safety of the residents living there. After shadow experiencing with them, I came across some of the weakness of Braleycroft which needs attention from the management. Some of the weakness are mentioned as follows:
A. The very first issue is the lack of efficient communication among the staffs that is actually needed to maintain the standard of service in Braleycroft. Moreover, the staffs are not properly trained and lacks communication between the staffs and the residents living there which impacts the residents. During my time of shadow experiencing I noticed several instances where the staffs working at Braleycroft Care hardly convey their message to the families of the residents. Once two foreigner staffs were attending a resident but failed to engage him in conversation as the two staffs did not know English and was talking in their native tongue.
B. Another great problem this home care is facing is the constant shortage of staffs. After doing my shadow training I came across some of the factors that are leading to the decreasing number of staffs are high working hours, low salary, very high work pressure and moreover there is no appreciation for hard work and commitment. The lack in job satisfaction level leads to demotivation among the...
