One example is Juice Company is going to produce a new strawberry juice without sugar and therefor they make a “taste-test” as collecting method with both the original Strawberry Juice (with sugar) and the new sugar free strawberry juice and ask people which product they prefer. This collected data is then used to make decision if it is a good idea to produce a new sugar free Strawberry Juice or not.

If more detailed information is necessary it might be better to use other methods of data collection such as interviews. However, interviews are not going to be discussed further in this report.

It is hard/impossible to ask everyone in a population what they think about the product and therefor is samples of the population used to make estimates.

The dataset in this report is a based on a survey for 100 people.

The survey aims to find out which of two versions of a product (snack food) that is preferred, if they like it and how much they would pay for it. Furthermore it aims to find information about the people who done the survey, such as grouping them into two age groups as well as gender groups to understand who the consumers are.

The variables that are used:
●    Which version is the best?

[Categorical variable]

To find the most popular version of product, which one of the company’s version of a product is preferred?

●    Gender

To divide the people of the survey into females and males.

●    Do they like the product

[Categorical variable]

●    How much they would pay for it

[Numerical variable]

●    Are they old? Above or under 40

[Categorical variable]
To see the difference between the younger and older peoples opinion and preference among the different versions of the product.

More examples of survey questions that could be used:
●    Does the product meet their needs?
[Categorical variable]
To find out if there is a need for the product.

●    Is the snack food salty or sweet?
[Categorical variable]
To find out if the snack food is experienced as a sweet or salty snack food.
