Tragedy and Hope
The play Ruined, speaks to that part of humanity that remains untouched as we hear
about wars and its tragedies as “third persons”. The “third person” is someone who is not attached or affected by the narrated events; he is merely a spectator. ‘Ruined’ successfully touches the third person but instead of concluding the insights about oppressed women with continuing violence, it closes up happily. It concludes with a ray of hope encouraging women to continue living and not give up since there is more to humanity even after war and the ruin it causes.
