Introduction
In recent times it can be considered that organisation tend to include different form of practices which would b
e helping them to resolve issue, which are linked to the workplace bullying. As stated by (Chadwick and Travaglia 2017) the concept of the workplace bullying is a pattern, which is persistent of directly mistreating each other in workplace, which would be affecting the emotion and attitude of an individual. There are different form of workplace bullying which may include tactics, which are verbal, nonverbal, and physical, and humiliation. The concept can be stated to be very difficult practice due to the factor that unlike the typical manner of school bullying workplace bullying can directly affect policies and rules and regulation of an organisation. In most of the cases as stated in different reports, bullying is majorly done by higher authority of an organisation, which is imposed on junior member of the working team.
The focus point of the report is to take into the extent of workplace bullying and the problem, which are confronted in the area relating to the Australian organisation. On the other hand, the different causes and the consequence, which are faced from both the organisation and the workers, would be widely discussed. The extent of Australian legislation, which can be applied to the concept, is also plotted down and the human resource management practices, which can be included into the domain for the minimisation of the risk factor, are also disclosed.
Workplace bullying
The extent of workplace bullying
The concept of workplace bullying is an extent in recent times. This is due to the factor that in recent times the emotional gathering of the people and the mentality of the people are changing rapidly. The need of the people and the expectation of the people from the different parts of the organisation are rapidly increasing. The concept of workplace bullying can be explained using a situation in which an employee rapidly over a long period is exposed to behaviour, which can be termed as harassment from one of more than colleagues who are working under or with him or her (Holland 2019). On the other hand, relating to the discussion, it can be stated that the target person in the activity is also not able to directly defend himself or herself and provide a mitigation aspect of the activity, which is being conducted on him. It can be stated as a form of abuse, which is persistent where the employee, which is exposed, is directly submissive to the perpetrator's action. Workplace bullying, in short, has majorly two factors involved in the concept, which is majorly the conflict, and harassment (which is not limited to one of two direct instances). The target person in the context can be having a feeling that he is directly trapped in the sector and there are no other ways in which he can get out of the situation and make a proper ordination of the working. Gender in the context can be considered as one of the important factors, which is attached to the concept in recent times. Other than that, there are few other factors such as climate, the rate of poverty and characteristics of the occupation, which is undertaken by oneself and the manner of execution of the task, which is undertaken by that person.
Cause
The concept, which is related to workplace bullying, can be stated as one of the major problem, which is seen in most of the organisation. The cause, which can be related to the context, can be considered very much wide. Few of the causes, which can be related to workplace bullying, are at this moment discussed.
One of the major factor, which can be stated to be directly linked to the initiation of the practice of workplace bullying, is the characteristics of the organisation and the environment, which is, related to the workplace. Few of the factor, which can be related to the environmental issue in the context, are the job insecurity, role/ ambiguity and cognitive demand of the job. Wesfarmers is one of the organisations which is located in Australia and in recent times there was an included of workplace bullying. One of the major factor, which can be linked to the event, which took place, was related to the work pressure, which was indulged, by most of the organisation. This workplace directly affected the behaviour of the senior members of the organisation onto the less superior members. This created an environment were proper functionality of the organisation was not achieved and affected the overall success factor of the organisation.
Apart from the environmental factor of the organisations sometimes, the concept of bullying are indulged into the factor of personality. Most of the research in the...
