Images cannot be processed by Turnitin and students will be awarded a 0 mark for those sections. Important Instructions: Please read carefully This written submission involves student-initiated reflection (lesson 1) and one guided (tutor led) reflection (lesson 2). Student initiated reflection involves a process where students choose what experiences to reflect upon concerning lessons learnt. In contrast, guided (or tutor led) reflection involves a process where the tutor guides the student concerning what experiences to reflect upon, which then prompts students to identify lessons learnt. 1. IntrODUCTION (2 marks) Instructions: Provide a brief introduction (two paragraphs), covering the following: 1. Explain what reflective practice is (provide at least one supporting reference); 2. Briefly explain the aim or purpose of the lessons learnt (or learned) process in project management (provide at least one supporting reference); and 3. An overview of what this assignment covers below. 2 LESSONS LEARNT: FRAMEWORK (6 marks) 2.1 Lessons learnt framework explained (1 mark) Instructions: Briefly describe (in one paragraph) about one lessons learnt (or learned) framework that could be applied in project management (provide at least one supporting reference for the framework identified). Note: This framework must be different to the ‘When, Who and How’ Lessons Learnt framework used in section 2.2 of this template. No marks will be allocated if the framework described in this section is the same as the framework listed below in sections 2.2 and 2.3. 2.2 Lessons learnt process: How I planned to gather, and document lessons learnt (2.5 marks) Instruction: Complete the table (below) to indicate how you planned to capture the lessons from your experiences in PPMP20008 in T1 2020. Guidance Notes: Marks will be awarded on the extent to which the table (below) is completed. Provide the reasons for your selection of responses. Half a mark awarded for fully explaining each of the 5 steps. STEPS WHEN WHO HOW Guidance Notes: I planned to identify lessons learnt… (state when and your rationale for the decision). I planned to involve… (state who and the rationale) in the process of identifying lessons learnt. I planned to identify lessons learnt by… (state how – process/tools, and the rationale). (i) Identify (ii) Document (iii) Analyse (iv) Store (v) Retrieve 2.3 Lessons learnt process: What actually happened? (2.5 marks) Guidance Notes: Explain the process of actually capturing of the lessons. Compare your plans above in Section 2.2 against what actually happened. Provide the reasons (for achieving your plan or for variation to your plans). Half a mark awarded for fully explaining each of the 5 steps. Instructions: complete the table below. STEPS WHEN WHO HOW Guidance Notes: I identified lessons learnt… (state when). I involved… (state who) in the process of identifying lessons learnt. I identified lessons learnt by… (state how). Lessons (15 marks) 3.1 Defining lessons learnt (or learned) (1 mark) Instructions: Provide a brief overview of this section (about your lessons) and the use of SMART framework in addressing the lessons. Cite at least one supporting reference relating to the SMART framework). 3.2 Lesson 1: (Note: 7 marks awarded for section 3.2 and sub-sections) Guidance Note: This is about reflection and reflective practices – not about the topics you have learnt. To receive full marks, you need to have demonstrated ‘deep’ reflection about the learning process. This Lesson must be the same lesson that is in Assessment Part A which you present in Week 12. Lesson 1 and Lesson 2 must not be the same or similar. Otherwise you will lose marks in 3.2.1 and in Part A. Instructions: This lesson learnt involves student-initiated reflection. It must not relate to the scenario that is provided in Lesson 2 below. The two lessons must be about two different experiences and should not be related (loss of marks for similar lessons in Lessons 1 and 2). 1. Situation – (Describe a situation (an experience not related to a risk) that happened within PPMP20008 in Term 1 2020); 2. Emotion and the impact - The situation made me feel… (Describe your feelings when the situation occurred - were you frustrated, angry, confused, happy, relieved etc. What were the reasons for these feelings? What impact did this have for you or others?); and 3. What I learnt from reflecting on the situation – (Make sure this is written as a lesson). 3.2.1 What I learnt from reflecting on the situation (3.5 marks) Instructions: complete the table below. 1. (a) Improvement strategy Explain the specific strategy/action plan that you will implement to address the lesson identified in 3.2.1 (b) Measurement How to measure if the strategy works; what measuring tools/units will be used? (c) Achievable Why the strategy is achievable; what will you do and how? (d) Relevant Explain the relevance of strategy to address the lesson in 3.2.1 (e) Timing When the strategy will be implemented 3.3 Lesson 2: Risk management as a PPMP20008 student (7 marks awarded for 3.3 and sub-sections) Instructions: This lesson learnt involves guided (tutor led) reflection. Tutors will discuss the area of reflection in scheduled tutorials in Weeks 9 - 11. Refer to the situation below and reflect on it. Explain how this situation made you feel and what you learnt from reflecting on the situation. Risk management is a critical element in all projects. Negative risks (threats) need to be considered very seriously to ensure that the project does not get negatively impacted. A negative risk, if materialised, requires corrective actions to manage negative impacts in future. On the other hand, a positive risk can have a positive impact on a project if managed appropriately. As a student undertaking PPMP20008 in Term 1 2020, recall a situation that related to a positive or a negative experience during the term. Now reflect on this situation in light of the risk management topic discussed in Week 5 and answer the three questions below. 1. Situation – (Describe a situation when undertaking PPMP20008 in Term 1, 2020 that involved a positive or a negative experience); 2. 3.3.1 What I learnt from reflecting on the situation (3.5 marks) Instructions: complete the table below. 1. Situation – (Identify if the situation was a positive or a negative experience) 2. The situation made me feel… 3. What I learnt from reflecting on the situation 3.3.2 Improvement Strategy for Lesson 2 (3.5 marks) Instructions: This lesson learnt involves guided (tutor led) reflection based on risk management. Guidance Notes (a) The specific improvement strategy is… (b) I would know the strategy was working as I could measure the success/effectiveness… (c) This strategy is achievable for me because… (d) This strategy is relevant to lesson 2 as it will (address/minimise/leverage) … (e) I will implement this strategy by (add date/time frame). Note: At least two supporting references are required. Instructions: complete the table below. (a) Improvement strategy Explain the specific strategy/action plan that you will implement to address the lesson identified in 3.3.1. Note: Strategy should consider whether the Lesson is positive or negative. Response to be appropriate in relation to risk management approaches. (b) Measurement How to measure if the strategy works; what measuring tools/units will be used? (c) Achievable Why the strategy is achievable; what will you do and how? (d) Relevant Explain the relevance of strategy to address the lesson in 3.3.1 (e) Timing When the strategy will be implemented 4.1 Conclusion (0.5 marks) Instructions: Provide a one paragraph conclusion (below) in around 5 sentences. Summarise the key points covered in the assessment and the final outcome/findings. 4.2. REFERENCES (1.5 marks) Guidance Notes: A minimum of eight (8) separate (or different) references are required. All references must be cited above where references are recommended. Both the citations and the reference list must be formatted according to the requirements in the CQU APA referencing guide available from the ALC website.
