Relations with the China are the most significant aspects of Australian foreign policy. While a rising power that develops important economic relations between Australia and Australia, superior relations with a China will also become a more and more prominent element of the Australia's worldwide interests. However maintaining superior relations with a China is the biggest challenges facing Australian policymakers. Frequent frictions in China-Australia-China relation for most of 1996 are the sign of sensitivity to dealing with a China as well as a fine indicator of various problems that may arise in managing this relationship.
In 1996, when China criticized Australia's policies toward Taiwan and China, the problem began to emerge. It believed that this policy was too closely related to US policy; moreover it interpreted it as a suspicion of Australia's commitments to the one-China policy.
