Rationale:
The purpose of this assessment is to help to develop your skills to develop strategies and potential responses for real work safety and security, disaster/crisis and other challenges that can happen in the hospitality industry.
Task:
You are to write a report on one of the following topics.
• an outbreak of a transmittable disease/pandemic such as the Covid-19 virus
• increased rate of terrorism in tourist destinations (e.g., Las Vegas Strip shooting, and Easter Sunday terror attacks in Sri Lanka)
• a long-term issue such as climate change, bush fires, coral bleaching.
In your report please cover these points:
• identify the topic
• discuss the implications for the hospitality sector
• come up with three action-based solutions that management of any hospitality service providers can implement to avoid or minimise the impact of such incidents
• To do this please include consideration of these Key Points:
o The role of innovation and technology
o Crisis and risk: strategic approaches
o Resilience and sustainability
