The lipid hypothesis targeted fat, particularly saturated fat, as the “bad guy” causing most of our chronic diseases. But experts were wrong! This is an example of how nutritionist/reductionist ways of thinking about food have led to serious errors affecting the public’s health. As per the observation of the assigned reading, the lipid hypothesis has been put to test, given that it has been a weak theory to ensure people. This is one of the evolved theories—or at least this is what scientists have claimed so far—that one has to believe to reduce fats. This is to consider that one has to be aware of the good and bad fats. When fat is taken from bad sources, it piles up in the body and adds to the cholesterol level.
