The Notebook is a very popular storybook based movie, which was released in the year 2004. This has been categorised as a romantic drama movie and that is why it is co
nsidered as one of the most important movies in the genre of romance. This is an adaptation of the book ‘The Notebook' written by the very popular writer Nicholas Sparks. The main characters of this movie are Noah Calhoun and Allie, which are beautifully portrayed by the two magnificent actors of that genre namely Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
This story has beautifully captured the raw essence of love, which is the most primal feeling of this world. The representation of love in the social backdrop and with severe difficulties is the main plot of this story. Love is the truest nature of human beings (Vos, 2018). They fall in love and they can fall out of love as well but what is the main fact is everything in human life revolves around this strongest emotion of all time called love. The love can be towards the family, friends or life partners as well but in order to get going in life loving other people and to get love is a very important phenomenon.
The storyline of the movie deals with the tiny but fulfilling dreams of Noah and his most ordinary life as a mill worker. Amidst of this normal life, he has met this beautiful girl named Allie in the fair and he was kind of get attracted to the raw beauty of that girl. The girl, on the other hand, belongs to a very rich family and they are mainly here for spending the summer vacation in the midst of South Carolina. Allie was mesmerised by the true and innocent self of Noah and she fell in love with the rustic side of Noah.
Both of them are very young at that point in time and they have enjoyed every moment with one another. That summer in the green forests and the brook was the best summer as conveyed by Noah in the notebook (Andrews, 2016). However, here comes the age-old problem, which is the discrimination of the rich and poor. The war of status becomes very evident in the course of this true love. The family of Allie has abandoned her from seeing this young boy and they had driven to the actual city where they waited for their letters.
In the course of the play, it can be learned that the letters written by Noah was not given to Allie and they are growing up in two different places with so much broken inside them. Nevertheless, with time the family of Allie set up an arrangement with another rich man for the life partner of this girl. She also wanted to move on and that is why she was engaged with this rich man as well. However, according to DeValve and Brightman (2018), love has a strange habit of coming back and exactly this happened with the lives of Allie and Noah.
From the newspaper, Allie has come to know the fact Noah was finally able to establish his dream home in the side of a small stream. She could not resist herself from coming there and look that completed the dream of the man she once loved dearly (Sarkar, Bali & Sharma, 2018). She lied to her fiancé and came to Noah and when they met, they instantly can feel the lost spark in their lives. They became intimate with time but soon that is disclosed to the fiancé and her family. Her mother also gave her all the letters written by Noah in all these years.
After all these years of struggles, they have finally made their love successful and led a very happy life with a happy family. However, as stated by Perricone (2017), life sometimes failed many expectations of human beings and in this case, life had played the biggest trick to these lovers in their old age when they have the need for each other the most.
