Texting while Driving
Motor vehicle accidents are one of the common causes of death in adults and adolescents across the world. Texting, reading, listening to music or making calls using cell phones while dr
iving is one of the most common reasons for accidents due to motor vehicle collisions, leading to deaths (Kahn et al.). Driving motor vehicles need constant vigilance and require the focus of visual, tactile, and auditory senses for traffic safety. Any distraction while using these senses like the use of mobile phones in the form of texting or talking on the drive can lead to the field of view obstruction and distraction of auditory input. These distractions can pose severe threats to road safety, as the driver has to move the attention from road to texting while the vehicle is still in motion.
Use of cell phones during driving can lead to temporary attention loss or diversion leading to vehicular crashes. As informed by Curran et al., many countries have banned texting while driving; however, there are zero states where there is a strict ban or legislation again texting while driving. The present paper describes the effects of texting on driving and also claims that texting while driving is dangerous and possible measures have to be taken to prevent any mishaps. The statement of purpose of the present study is that texting while driving is the most dangerous and important cause among all other types of distracted driving. The present article focuses on reviewing the literature and systematically places evidence that support the same.

Peer-reviewed general reviews, retrospective reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analysis, and case reports were studied to obtain the information. As stated by Bazargan-Hejazi et al.,...
