Accident -Collision Investigation Report
Details of the accident:
A motor vehicle has crashed into a guardrail. Due to the impact, the guardrail has been broken.
In this investigation report the values of speed of the vehicle and strength of the guardrail have been calculated and checked against the values stated by the plaintiff and the guardrail company.
Every possible effort to make this investigation factual and unbiased has been made.
The following reports and statements were examined and considered while making this report. Scientific methodology was carried out to find the facts.
Forensics report:
· The vehicle’s mass is 2200 kg.
· The speed limit at the location of the accident is 55 mph.
· The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.9 between the tire rubber ad dry asphalt
· The length of the tire skid marks leading up to guardrail was 31 metres.
· The tire skid marks were straight.
· The tire skid marks were perpendicular to the guardrail.
· While in contact with the guardrail, the vehicle travelled a distance of 0.5metres before coming to a full stop.
Statement given by the plaintiff:
· They were driving at the speed limit.
· The weather was clear.
· The road appeared dray and clear of debris.
