Social Policy Themes and Agendas
Please identify throughout history, three common themes and agendas in social policy.
The three common themes which are now burning agendas in social policy are as follows:
1. Poverty Reduction
2. Unemployment Insurance
3. Child Protection
With common themes, why do you believe these themes have continued to impact and drive policy for so long?
Poverty reduction: Rural poverty is the reason for poverty around the world. Since 1990, more than half of the world population was extremely poor. As per a report of World Bank there are more than 736 million people living with a per capita income of $1.90 a day. The rural people are deprived of proper education, poor infrastructure and technologies and a market that would help them to highlight and enhance their earnings. The Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations are building sustainable development goals to alleviate the SDG 1 - hunger and SDG -2 poverty together by 2030. These sustainable development programs aim at promoting education, gender equality, female enhancement and child caring programs.
