There has been a longstan

The Healthcare System in Australia
The healthcare system in Australia is basically consist of both governments funded public healthcare and privately funded healthcare system. As discussed by Dixit and Sambasivan (2018) the healthcare system in Australia is mainly covered by the government funded Medicare system, and anyone who avails the Medicare number are eligible to get admission for free of charge as a public patient in any of the public healthcare facility for treatment if deemed clinically necessary. The Medicare facility provided by the government also covers the cost of consulting a general physician and specialist along with the cost of medicine also covered under Medicare facility.
In the private healthcare system in Australia, patients will receive more choices regarding the kind of care service they opt for. Rozbroj et al. (2019) have discussed that the choice of care service includes the selection of doctors along with the selection of the type of treatment required. The facilities also include the shorter waiting period for availing the treatment along with the facility to avail the private rooms and other optional services to make the stay much comfortable. The private health insurance includes the hospital cover, will most likely to cover a lot of cost during the hospital stay. Compared to private hospital, in public hospital of Australia are typically considered to be of very high standard along with the highly trained medical professional along with the world class facilities. As discussed by McCray et al. (2018) the public healthcare system in Australia provides much better medical facilities compared to the private healthcare system, and the public healthcare system is much more equipped compared to the private healthcare in handling complex cases. One of thee most important aspect in the public healthcare facility is the most of the treatment comes free of cost, whereas in private healthcare facility the treatment cost is much higher, which may not be affordable to a huge number of population, particularly the Indigenous group of people. However, one of the major drawbacks of the public healthcare facility is that the patient had to wait a longer period of time for elective and non-urgent surgery, which are the terms used for the non-emergent surgery, which is necessary medically, however, it can be delayed for around 24 hours.
