Students are to identify one key traditional human resources
activity/function (e.g. recruitment, reward, and recognition) and
one external (e.g. labour shortages, labour mobility,
automation) and one internal organisational challenge (e.g.
diversity, inclusion, and belonging) to complete the following
tasks:
• Drawing on relevant contemporary journal articles,
identify the key purpose of the chosen activity/function with
reference to extant theory and practice.
• Critically argue how current external and internal
organisational challenges might impact the key traditional
human resource activity/function that you have chosen.
• Drawing on topics discussed in the unit, provide viable,
evidence-based strategic people management responses to
organisational challenges identified.
• What is the role of leadership in implementing these
responses? What type of leadership you think might be better
suited for overcoming these challenges?
