Students will complete a literature review of a topic within their practice area that examines current practice issues.

Task: Ngā Tuhi: Literature Review


Select an area of professional practice within the Aotearoa/New Zealand health context that is of interest to you and identify a topic for your literature review. You will develop this topic further in your proposal for Assessment Two.


Investigate and critically analyse this topic and describe your findings as a well‐constructed literature review that establishes current practice issues.


The literature review must include:


A description of the specific professional practice area, health care context and significance of the issue or issues related to the selected topic.


A critical analysis of the literature that describes:


Key practice issues and current evidence related to the topic
Existing gaps in knowledge or understanding about the topic that provides a focus for further new areas of investigation


A minimum of 15‐20 sources of academic literature to examine and support analysis of the topic.
