Due Tuesday, Feb. 26th -- Task #2-20 points






    • Read chapter 15 in the Norton Field Guide

    • Locate at least 3 sources (This must includeat least two sources located with the online databases) you plan to use in your essay. (See chapters 46-47)

    • Include MLA Works Cited style citation for each source

    • Write an annotation for each source, which should include:


      • abriefsummaryof the source--include the main idea and key points the source makes


      • an assessment:describe how you determined the credibility, timeliness, potential biases, and reliability of the source as a piece of evidence in your essay.


      • a synthesis: a clear explanation of how you think this source fits into the argument YOU are making and how you see the source functioning in your essay. Will it support a key point you are making? Provide data or evidence for a claim? Demonstrate your opponent's' point of view?     Summary
    The paper by Huang and Brouwer summarizes the concept of negotiation in marriage, with specific reference to the Queer group of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Community. The term Xinghun is used in Chinese LGBT community to refer to kind of marriage. Other terms used are marriage without sex, contract marriage, cooperative marriage and nominal marriage. Despite various terminology, the true nature of this kind of marriage are not capture by those who study it or have a glance at it. The marriage between gay man and lesbian woman is not considered real marriage because it does not involve any sexual activities.
    Due to this very same reason, a term called Xinghun is used to describe such marriages. This article used cis-male and cis-female for the study to get the deep insight of Xinghun. The realness of the relationship between gay man and lesbian woman, hyphenated heterosexual is used intentionally to show that the different sex bodies but without attraction towards each other. Gay man is more pressurized to carry on the family bloodline due to patrilineal family line that needs to be carried on in Chinese convention.
    In the society, family provides men with high moral privilege and social power in comparison to woman. Consequently, lesbian woman is more willing to renounce its marriage. Queer people use technology for reproduction. Queer subjects try to use syringes to transfer the sperm from gay male body to the lesbian female body to mitigate the economical or legal pressure.
