There are two steps for this assignment. Part A involves writing a report and Part B involves a 10 minute presentation in class. Assessment 3A advances skills in analysing and reporting qualitative data, and reflexivity of practice. Key understanding includes how to generate meaning from qualitative data, how to report the results of qualitative analysis, and how to reflect on one’s own performance to identify strengths and opportunities for growth. The assessment prepares students for an important task common to the public health practitioner role. Instructions: Analysis: Use the resources in module six to: 1. Code the data that you collect from your interviewees. 2. Develop themes based on your coding. PUBH6013_Assessment_3A_Investigation_Report_Week_11 Page 2 of 5 3. Report on the themes that you’ve identified, supported by relevant quotes from your interviewees. Report this part in the same style as the results section of a qualitative journal article. Reflection: reflect on your experience of interviewing and analysing the data. What did you do well, and what did you struggle with? What could you learn to do better? What did you learn through this experience? Assessment Criteria: • Ability to interpret and analyse data, and report the results appropriately (50%) • Reflection upon the interview experience and demonstrates reflexivity (30%) • Use of academic conventions (20%) PUBH6013_Assessment_3A_Investigation_Report_Week_11 Page 3 of 5 Learning Rubrics Assessment Attributes Fail (Unacceptable) Pass (Functional) Credit (Proficient) Distinction (Advanced) High Distinction (Exceptional) Grade Description (Grading Scheme) Evidence of unsatisfactory achievement of one or more of the learning objectives of the course, insufficient understanding of the course content and/or unsatisfactory level of skill development. 1. BACKGROUND
Polycystic Ovarian Disorder [PCOD] is a female disorder which is caused due to hormonal imbalance. It is reported that more than 1 million of women are diagnosed with PCOD each year all over globe. When woman is affected with PCOD, she generally produces more male hormones in her body. PCOD is serious underlying cause for many disorders and complications like cardiovascular disorders, neurological disorders, fertility issues, menstrual irregularities, obesity etc [Raymond J Rodgers 2019]. As per records, 12-21% of Australian women are diagnosed with PCOD. Out of which, most of cases are reported in the indigenous communities [Helena J Teede Et al. MJA 195]. It is also reported that 70% if the indigenous are undiagnosed with PCOD but show the symptoms [L Chitra Varanasi Et al.].
2. METHODOLOGIES
The research is carried out based on qualitative analysis which included community based approach. This approach gives a wider scope for interaction with all genres of people and analysing them in detail. This way gives a greater opportunity for interaction between public, researchers, health professionals.
2.1 CODING AND THEMING
Coding of data, is the process of transforming raw data into meaningful one [Allen 2017]. Coding and theming plays a crucial role in developing the cause and explain it in depth for a better understanding of the readers. Coding is important for organising the raw data into meaningful way [Mai S Linneberg Et al. May 2019]. While theming is important to provide a meaningful cause and background to the research [Mojtaba Vaismoradi Et al. January 2016] . Coding and theming together provides meaning and structure to the qualitative analysis and interview format.
Coding is broadly classified into 2 types: Automated and manual coding. Automated coding including the coding of the data thematically using a software. This is termed as automated as the analysis is done automatically using software. While the manual coding is the way where the coding process is done manually. The manual coding is further classified as deductive and inductive. In deductive coding, one should prepare a codebook for proper reference and guidance while in inductive process, there is no need of the reference book.
As per research guidelines, the qualitative analysis is classified into 5 types: Ethnography where, the research is focused on the culture, goals, motivation etc. ad where the researcher should immerse into completely: Narrative analysis where the analysis is done as a narration and interview is conducted in-depth: Phenomenological analysis where the analysis describes an event or activity or phenomena: Grounded analysis where the explanation includes the story behind the events and the research is done grounded: Case study type of analysis includes a deeper understanding through multiple types of data.
3. DATA COLLECTION
One of the best methods in qualitative analysis is through interview an prioritised groups [Kabir 2017]. The in-depth type of data collection includes very few questions yet very descriptive and informative, the semi-structure is the most suitable form as this include moderate number of questions which gives...
